WEST AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS
The very first West Australian Country Music Awards were held in 1986 and had just five (5) categories- Best Country Band, Best Entertainer, Encouragement Award, Best Young Talent and Best Country Solo.
The event was called the West Australian Country Music Awards and has been presented by the Country Music Club of Boyup Brook ever since, along with the overall Boyup Brook Country Music Festival. In the early days interested applicants were asked to submit a cassette containing three (3) songs. A panel of four (4) judges then spent considerable time selecting the finalists in each category. The majority of entries were from the South West and metropolitan area. It was hoped that in the future there would be entries from all over WA.
Today the number of categories has grown to 12 along with a People’s Choice Award, and entries come in from many regions of WA.
The West Australian Country Music Awards represent the pinnacle of country music in Western Australia, annually attracting a substantial pool of exceptional talent from across the state. Winners delight in acknowledgment for their outstanding achievements in the musical domain.

The aim of the awards is to acknowledge and offer support to Western Australian artists who are truly committed to their music. The West Australian Country Music Awards offer an amazing chance to be heard by a distinguished panel of judges. These judges are experienced professionals in the country music industry, hailing from both Australia and overseas. The remarkable calibre of Western Australian talent participating in the awards highlights the success and prestige of this distinguished event. The awards are presented in front of a very large audience.
