The band South 76 emerged from the sun-kissed coast of Western Australia, where the sea meets the rugged landscapes, and the sound of country music resonates through the hills. Led by Jon Veitch's heartfelt songwriting and soulful vocals, South 76 is a band that embodies the spirit of camaraderie and musical exploration.

It all began in 2020 when Jon Veitch, fuelled by a passion for songwriting, decided it was time to step into the spotlight. Having played alongside various musicians over the years, Jon was ready to embark on a new journey. Teaming up with Ben Clark, a fellow musician and close friend, they nurtured Jon's initial songs into something greater. The COVID era, despite its challenges, provided fertile ground for their creative vision to grow. Short gigs turned into intense jam sessions, which in turn birthed tracks that have resonated with audiences.

Based in the idyllic locales stretching from Yallingup to Cowaramup, South 76 finds themselves isolated from the bustling music scene of Perth. With three hours separating them from the city, gigs are a rare treat, but each performance is infused with the raw energy of their passion for music. The addition of Jake Hugh in 2023, a Brit drawn to Australia by familial ties, and Laura Van in early 2024, brought new dimensions to their sound.

Veitch, the creative force behind the band, handles keys, guitar, and lead vocals, pouring his soul into each performance. Ben, a teacher by day and a rhythm master by night, lays down the beat with his drums and percussion. Jake's guitar skills add layers of depth, while Laura's bass lines and vocals provide the perfect complement. Their individual backgrounds and influences merge seamlessly, resulting in a sound that is uniquely South 76.

In 2023, South 76 experienced a pivotal moment at the Cabin Fever event, performing at Lenton Brae Winery to a captivated audience. It was here that they realised the potential of their collective talent and the impact of their music. Buoyed by this success, they set their sights on future tours and seizing every opportunity to share their music with the world.

With two projects currently in production and one ready to release, South 76 is poised to make waves on the Aussie music scene. Under the guidance of producer James Newhouse at Lambchop Studio in Bunbury, Western Australia, they're ready to unleash their signature sound on the world stage. From the coastal shores of Western Australia to the hearts of music lovers everywhere, South 76 is a band on the rise, keep an ear out for their new music!
